New Zombie Classics

September 12th, 2009

I just picked up this book from the store. I suggest you do too. It’s a wonderfully clever take on the classic Jane Austin book “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”

If you know the opening pages, listen to this hijacking of her prose: “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains. Never was this truth more plain than during the recent attacks at Netherfield Park, in which a household of eighteen was slaughtered and consumed by a horde of the living dead.”

Genius.

Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses! What a read. I’ve only started it myself, but I wanted to spread the word.

What’s next? War and Peace and Zombies? The Zombies of Notre Dame? I hope so.

This might not be the only zombie book you’ll ever need, but it’s certainly a clever take on a classic I’d otherwise ignore. I’ve linked to the regular version, and the deluxe version of the book directly below. Enjoy!
