Zombthology’s DEADLANDS 2: TRAPPED wins big!
Zombthology originally included a Gary Ugarek short entitled, “Trapped.” As the Zombthology grew – and, in typical Gary Ugarek fashion, as Trapped grew – it quickly became apparent that an adequate cut of the film wouldn’t fit into Zombthology and serve either story well.
Trapped became “Deadlands 2: Trapped.”
Recently, Deadlands 2 has picked up 2 more awards on it’s rampage through the festivals with Zombthology. This time it’s in our Nation’s capitol, at Washington DC’s World Music and Independent Film Festival (or WMIFF). Deadlands won Best Thriller and People’s Choice (via online voting). Both Deadlands 2 and Zombthology were up for numerous other awards.

I just picked up this book from the store. I suggest you do too. It’s a wonderfully clever take on the classic Jane Austin book “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”
If you know the opening pages, listen to this hijacking of her prose: “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains. Never was this truth more plain than during the recent attacks at Netherfield Park, in which a household of eighteen was slaughtered and consumed by a horde of the living dead.”
Genius.
Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses! What a read. I’ve only started it myself, but I wanted to spread the word.
What’s next? War and Peace and Zombies? The Zombies of Notre Dame? I hope so.
This might not be the only zombie book you’ll ever need, but it’s certainly a clever take on a classic I’d otherwise ignore. I’ve linked to the regular version, and the deluxe version of the book directly below. Enjoy!

Deadlands 2: TRAPPED DVD release and screening
DEADLANDS 2: TRAPPED – DVD Release Party (Virginia)” on Thursday, October 22, Arlington Cinema Drafthouse – 8:30pm.
Beer and food, available! In the event of a zombie outbreak – remain in the theatre, lock the doors, and keep watching the movie.
Deadlands 2 is set to get an HD-DVD release, a very small production run, for the hard core fans of this format. Additional content that would be exclusive to the HD-DVD version is likely to be included. If you owned an HD-DVD player, chances are you were a fan of the format, and are still stinging about Sony killed it with their Blu-Ray monopoly. But, like a zombie-film… it seems HD-DVD just won’t die, with a release of Deadlands 2 being offered up. Support for the format and release helps, to know there is an audience for this kind of things. Let Mr. Ugarek know at http://www.facebook.com/DjfunkmasterG

August 23.
1 PM.
At the Byrd.
Richmond, VA.
Zombthology is set for it’s Richmond and Central VA premiere at the Byrd theatre. The show is almost a solid year from the Fright Night Film Festival where an unfinished in-progress screener of Zombthology was honored to take home a Silver Scream award for Best Zombie Film.
The contagious completed film is finally infecting theaters and festivals. It’s starting to spread, but it all starts with these recent VA premieres. So come out and support indie entertainment, zombie fun, horror sickness…. Don’t tell us you have any better brains to eat on a Sunday afternoon????!

Austin drivers making their morning commute were in for a surprise when two road signs on a busy stretch of road were taken over by hackers. The signs near the intersection of Lamar and Martin Luther King boulevards usually warn drivers about upcoming construction, but Monday morning they warned of “zombies ahead.”
